SAFE-KIDS
The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph
Community Health Agency leads the SAFE-KIDS
chapter for the tri-county area. Local
chapters include representation from many sectors
of the local community interested in child safety.
SAFE-KIDS is a national
campaign dedicated to the reduction and prevention
of unintentional injury--the leading killer of
children ages 15 and under. The SAFE-KIDS
chapter is a partnership between community,
health, human services, law and government
organizations in each county. Volunteers are
always welcome to assist with community events.
Activities are supported
through a variety of funding sources at the local,
state and national level. SAFE-KIDS
activities include:
-
Car seat check-up events.
-
Bike rodeos.
-
Bike and skating helmet
distribution events.
-
Project SLIC (Saving the
Lives of Infants and Children)--a car seat
education and distribution program for income
eligible families in the tri-county area.
-
Smoke detector
distribution.
-
Gun and bike safety
programs for school aged children.
-
Water safety signs/personal
flotation devices.
